Staying in Wenatchee

• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide for Wenatchee, Washington State.
Wenatchee, Washington is situated where the Wenatchee and Columbia rivers meet in the north central part of the state and is named for a nearby Native American tribe.

The town, which is a short drive from Seattle, is an extremely sunny city averaging more than 300 days of sunshine per year and offers visitors all sorts of tours and activities. Foodies will enjoy wine and food tours available throughout the area while adventure-seekers can find thrills and spills in activities like hiking, biking and the adrenaline-pumping river rafting.

And, if these options aren't appealing enough, the town also has a number of museums and galleries to explore, great boutiques and shops to browse, and a solid performing arts community.

With so many things to see and do, people from out of town might want to spend more than a day exploring the place and the surrounding countryside, and fortunately there is a number of hotels and motels from which to choose.

HOTELS & MOTELS IN WENATCHEE

Most of the hotels and motels in Wenatchee are located along Highway 285, which runs right through the center of town, making it easy to drive in and find a place to stay. The hotels along the highway offer visitors a mix of reasonable options that range from chain hotels to smaller, family-run establishments.

Those looking for standard amenities like on-site dining, swimming pools, conference facilities and fitness centers might prefer to opt for one of the hotel chain properties and a slew of mid-range hotels, such as the Comfort Inn, can also be found in Wenatchee.

The IvyWild Inn, a historic mansion-turned-hotel, is a change from the more typical hotels found along the main highway. Each room has wireless Internet, flat-screen televisions, cozy down comforters, and stays include a two-course breakfast prepared daily by the hotel's chef.

Visitors wanting a more intimate and personalized experience may opt to look for small hotels within the area.

CLOSE TO THE AIRPORT / EAST WENATCHEE

There are also a limited number of hotels situated close to Wenatchee's Pangborn Memorial Airport. The Cedars Inn in East Wenatchee is situated right on the shore of the Columbia River and is a great option for both those coming from the airport or those planning to explore not only Wenatchee but also the surrounding countryside. The property's comfortable rooms include basics like Wifi, coffee-makers and in-room cable, and a complimentary hot breakfast is included with the room rate.

Priding themselves on economical rates and comfy rooms, the Inn at the River is also situated relatively close to the airport. The inn's handy location allows guests to experience all the area's available activities—from skiing and rock-climbing to hiking and water sports—while a sports bar and casino are located on site providing a bit of entertainment for those who would prefer to relax at the hotel or unwind after a long day of sightseeing.
